Hey hey hey!

Remag 2 is almost done. Let's go for the third issue. First, when do we want to publish this one?

I suggest June 30th. Any other suggestion?

FYI, we already have 2 articles for the Remag 3.

chenchow

Good~! Yeah, June 30. We should be consistent.

Really sorry for not getting my article ready for ReMag 2. Hopefully there will be sufficient contents in ReMag 2.

Just a suggestion, not sure whether it is still not too late, but I will suggest that the final version of ReCom's Press Release on Education issue is included in the ReMag 2. Jiin Joo is collecting feedback from ReCom's members and he will finalize the Press Release article in 24 hours. So, hopefully that could make it to ReMag 2, as I think it is important to showcase our ReCom's stuff.

What do you guys think? JiinJoo's summary can be found on Page 3 of Malaysian Education Summit's thread.

I'll ask him some time in early May.

Hey Chenchow, I believe you owe us an article? So, are you writing? :D

alright ppl.

It's time to find a topic. Please submit a topic by May 22nd. The targetted release date for ReMag 3 is 30th June.

You could email me the topic at hafiz_sw @<hidden> (remove the space) or reply to this thread.

and budakkerek, about your anime article, if you want to submit that, you will need to somewhat make it a proper article. :)

about theme, i donno whether its a good idea for the time being. We still have a small number of writers and i don't want to make these writers extra problem.

I'll write something in email later.

and I'll try to get nik nazmi to contribute something soon.

hey guys

i have a suggestion - i raised it in the last forum but nobody really picked up on it.

anyway i suggested we create specific columns for each issue. something like

a) features
b) artwork/photographs
c) successful malaysians abroad (interview or a narrative)
d) reviews
e) what recommers are talking about (summary)
f) profile of a recommer
dan lain lain.

this is beneficial in the sense that we won't run into a problem of not knowing what to write. and even if we do, we have a consistent set of articles. more often than not we run out of ideas on what to write, and having a set objective usually helps.

also there can be more than 1 article per column.
here's an example
www.generationrice.com

ahha! just what we need to find some inspiration.
I like the idea of putting some cool graphics at the top of the article.
I hope we can get one more graphic designer.

I support empty's idea. I think the interview can be done via emails.
We just need some set of questions.

el_empty
11-05-2004, 03:27 PM
yap - i volunteer to work on the graphic design bit and others. this time i'll have more time (since i'm sorta unemployed still...) - yah and this time also the page won't be so narrow. ;)

Below is my email given out to ppl related to ReMag. If I missed anybody, here is your chance to read it.

Hey people.

Sorry for the long silence. FYI information, according to Syamsul, ReMag 2 should be out by this Friday, May 14th.

While we are waiting for him and el_empty (should I call you minter?) polishing up the website, its time for us to work on ReMag 3.

The tentative publication date for ReMag 3 is June 30th.

Firstly, we need to know whether you like to contribute article(s) or not. If you want to, please go to "ReMag 3" thread in in ReMag SIG and please submit your topic. Here is the direct link
http://recom.homelinux.org:8000/~recom/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=762#17047

The deadline for topic submission is May 28th (that is Friday). However, if the deadline passed, feel free to submit it.

The suggested deadline for article submission is June 11th. This technically gives you 14 days to complete your article.

FYI, we already have 2 unedited articles. I will also ask Nik Nazmi if he is interested in contributing an article.

That's all I have to say. Hope to hear from you soon.

p/s - I'll have this posted in the forum too.

And below are things that we have currently. If you are interested in contributing, please quote the whole box thing below and add the necessary detail.

Article:
Night Fright (Sawittri Shotiwuth Charun)
What We Cannot Live Without (Sawittri Shotiwuth Charun)

regarding el_empty's suggestion, his point on interviewing ppl is great for remag development. Like what Syamsul said, we need a set of questions. Anybody wanna take this job up?
If you want to take that job up, I belive the initial job is to find somebody to interview. (maybe you could interview jeff ooi? we need all the publicity we can get.)

I am contemplating writing either about various activities that could be done to spread the cultural awareness abroad (Basically, I am going to do an analysis of activities held by M'sian Students Assoc worldwide). What do you guys think about it? This may be a good help to provide for other Malaysians elsewhere to have similar events!

Actually, I've been thinking about that too.
I think, if we can make it a cover for Remag, and the pdf's , it would be a distributable mag. (save cost to print).
Sounds good. I'll 'pdf' it.

1) Maybe we could use different font .. IMO, Times New Roman should be left on papers .. it's ugly on a webpage .. hahaha dunno maybe I'm too stylish 8)

2) Link the titles to their respective articles .. putting links on the words "more..." only is not enough

3) the top part ("remag issue #3 May - July 2004 (Hooray!) ) could utilize an image ...

4) The text "The ReCom Magazine" in the banner is hard to read ...

Thanks luke for the feedback.

Times New Roman? I used verdana, it looks great. (on the Mac :) )
and it looks OK on windows, although I'm a bit disappointed of the jagged rendering. I hope longhorn's rendering engine would would be better.

I've resized the title and now it looks bigger than ever.

I'll put the title as the link only after I know how to remove the ugly red color resulting from the link.

but thanks for the feedback!.

The excerpts look fine in Tahoma but in my browser (IE-variant) the excerpt titles are left in Times New Roman ...

Just do like what you did for the horizontal links and the links on the panel. Since the main body is enclosed in a <DIV> of class "article", you can just add codes like below in the css file:
.article a:link,
.article a:active,
.article a:hover,
.article a:visited {
color:#000000;
text-decoration:underline;
}

also, I noticed from examining your main.css:

1) you misspelled "Arial" as "Ariel" at some places and "Helvetica" as "Helvatica" at all places ... maybe this is the cause of all those Times New Roman texts

2) line 67 (in .navigation a:visited {}): "color=#a30000;" -> "color: #a30000;"
