This is great. Shows just how much Saudis are misunderstood and their problems unknown to the outside world. I love this guy!

A Saudi man's diary of life in the "Magic Kingdom", where the Religious Police ensure that everything remains as it was in the Middle Ages.

In Memory of the lives of 15 Makkah Schoolgirls, lost when their school burnt down on Monday, 11th March, 2002. The Religious Police would not allow them to leave the building, nor allow the Firemen to enter.

6. How do you avoid being intercepted?
All Saudi ISP's are connected to the outside world thru a bank of servers in the KACST (King AbdulAziz City of Science and Technology), where no doubt much listening goes on. However, like many Saudis, I illegally use a satellite link for my connexion. This materializes who-knows-where in the wider Internet. Maybe there is also some form of relay involved. Who knows?
 anyone has this??!

This is an excellent blog - wonder if we can actually do something to help these people. The Makkah Schoolgirl event is plain ridiculous :(

Actually there are ;) maybe in a very different tone from this guy. If you read his tone he's writing out of desparation already. Most Malaysian bloggers are middle class youngsters that live a rather, err, comfortable life, with streamyx.

Just revisited the site and found out that he's now safely in London blogging. Probably a good thing but I wonder how remote he is now from Saudi.

If you're interested in reading more, you can also try to look for Hishamuddin Rais's musings around the net. Many authors run columns on Malaysiakini, or you read other usual suspects like jeffooi, tvsmith, etc.

or just read noise: http://www.mycen.com.my/search/blog.html - see if you can find some gem amongst them?
