I thought it is easier to get, because the minimum requirement for this course ain't high compared to other engineering course.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

as far as i know, some universities in Korea are offering their courses in English...to meet the international market's requirement and to improve their universities' standards. it depends on which course are you going to choose.
however, it's really hard to get into a good/well-known universities in Korea especially SKY - University of Seoul, University of Korea and University of Yonsei...*JPA's Korea scholars, do correct me if I'm wrong*

the living expenses in Korea is much higher than that in Malaysia especially if you're in Seoul..she happens to be one of the most expensive cities in the world.

by the way, i'm a korean freak!!!! i wanted so much to learn the language but it's so hard to get korean classes back in my place...anyone willing to teach me or show me how to laern it?? i know some simple ones though.....:))

yup...SKY are the top universities in korea (1st. seoul national university where all the jpa scholars are going to complete their language course for 1 year. 2nd/3rd Korea Uni. and Yonsei Uni.) actually for a foreign student is quite easy to enter all the universities in korea as long as you complete your high school and you are able to pay for the tuition fees.but before you start your first year studies in uni. you have to take the korean language course at the uni. or from other universities in korea. beside for certain universities they will ask the foreign students to sit for the KLPT test(korean language proficiency test) and an interview to decide you are qualified or not. but fortunately we, the jpa students got the exception for the KLPT test because we complete the highest korean language level ( level 1 to 6) and we did took the KLPT test during our language course. ( huhuhu....if you want to survive in korean you really have to know to talk in korean because most of the koreans can't speak in english.) about lectures...erm... some uni. students can choose either lectures in korean or english language (for exampe korea uni.) but even the lectures are in korean the text books are english one so it's not difficult for us. korean language...it's hard and i am still learning even i completed my language course already ( aiyoo....still can not speak like korean)

it's not that the koreans don't know how to speak english...even if they did, it's really difficult to understand them because they had a very "unique" way of saying it...for example, love becomes lobe. it just drives you mad. so, the best survival tool in korea would be korean...

shean didn't reply anything. hymph! okay la, i was reprimanded by my friends la when i frankly said that i didn't wanna care about juniors. =.=

heard that they'd registered at intec early this week. so anyone who happened to stumble here can approach me.. muahaha.. in my batch, there's less than 10 recommers. Lol.

To answer all your questions above,

i'm from batch 83. ehehe.. Have been living i seoul for almost 3 months. Gawd.. Can't believe.. it has been 3 months since i landed in the land of morning calm. 3 months!! T_T Life is cool, fine. Froze to death initially cos it was end of winter, freeezzziiiinnnnggg cold. Still hate the cold weather.

I think jpa recognised most of the engineering courses. Popular courses? Ermm.. Mechanical, chemical, electrical, electronic, shipping etc.

#$%^ whatever you say about korean engineering, go ahead if you believe that it offers diploma, it isn't as good as other countries blablabla. Some regretted choosing this course. Whatever. You dunno how to appreciate that's your problem. Anyway don't be too excited. A few scholars have been sent home, in certain circumstances.

and living cost here is too high. T_T almost 3 times the price of anything you can find cheaply in malaysia.

ERM
ACTUALLY KOREAN PROGRAMME IS QUITE EASIER TO GET COMPARE TO AUSTRALIA OR OTHER COUNTRY SINCE THE LIVING COST IN KOREAN IS MUCH MORE CHEAPER THAN OTHER COUNTRY LIKE USA UK AUS ...

IF YOU RESULT IS STRAIGHT A THEN YOU APPLY I THINK YOU CAN GET IT STRAIGHT AWAY LIKE MY CASE.

AS A GOVERNMENT SPONSORED STUDENT IT IS NOT DIFFICULT FOR US TO ENTER UNIVERSITY. HOWEVER IT IS HARD TO PASS THE CUT OFF POINT WHICH IS DECIDED BY JPA. SO, ONCE YOU PASSED THE CUT OFF POINT YOU CAN ENTER WHATEVER UNI YOU WANT IN KOREA
LIKE SNU, KOREA U, YONSEI U OR ETC...

Hi

Been in Korea since Sep 3 2004.

The few of you who wants to learn Korean at home, visit:

http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/

If you have questions, ask my juniors.

If you ask me whether I have any regrets?
- I'm sure I'd have more friends if I'm studying in a local u, but looking back at the past 4 years, my journey here have changed my thoughts and my life.

You'd be bored if I talked too much about myself here, if you're interested, you can check out my blog at:
www.jyteck.blogspot.com

It'll give you a glimps of how life is here, especially the 1st few years. The JPA programmes have slightly changed since then though.
