Do you all think Malaysia should practice conjugal visits like other countries?

Few years ago, i actually have no idea about the existence of conjugal visit at all. I only got to know this until i watched Desperate Housewives where Gabrielle visited Carlos in prison for a conjugal visit. And not forgetting to mention Prison Break where both Scofield's and Sucre's had conjugal visit with their respective partners.

According to sources, the countries / places that practice conjugal visits are America ( only in 6 states : California, New Mexico, New York, Mississippi, Connecticut and Washington ) , Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Mexico City, France, Canada and Brazil. (p/s : pls add in any country you know that practice conjugal visit if you i missed any )

I picked this up from wikipedia :
In the United States
In the United States, inmates must meet certain requirements to qualify for this privilege, for example, no violation of the rules in the last six months, history of good behavior, and so on. Those imprisoned in medium or maximum security facilities and inmates on death row are not permitted conjugal visits.

The visitor may be required to undergo a background check, and the inmate must also be free of any sexually transmitted diseases. As a matter of procedure, both visitor and inmate are searched before and after the visit, to ensure that the visitor has not attempted to smuggle any items in or out of the facility.

Over the last 40 years, most new prisons included special buildings specifically designed for "Sunday visits." Today, conjugal visitation programs, also known as the Extended Family Visit, survive in only six states: California, Connecticut, Mississippi, New Mexico, New York and Washington.

In June 2007, California's Department of Corrections announced it would allow same-sex conjugal visits. The policy was enacted to comply with a 2005 state law requiring state agencies to give the same rights to domestic partners that heterosexual couples receive. The new rules allow for visits only by registered domestic partners who are not themselves incarcerated. Further, the domestic partnership must have been established before one of the partners was incarcerated. [1]

The Federal Bureau of Prisons does not allow conjugal visits.[2][3]

Just FYI , the visit will usually take place in a structure provided for that purpose, such as a trailer or small cabin. Supplies such as soap, condoms, tissues, sheets, pillows and towels may be provided.

So, should Malaysia or any Asian countries practice conjugal visits? Can we accept this ? or are we too conservative to accept this (no offense)?
For me, i think Malaysia can take this into consideration to preserve family bonds but this will definately take time....

its kinda unfair...but i do think it should be allowed only to inmates who are really having good behaviour or just commit 'mild' crime....hmmm, about the term 'mild', i cant define which crime is considered 'mild' or which are not...maybe stealing a car or manslaugter is 'mild' ? first degree murder is serious??? whateva...
So my 2 cent is for those 'serious' crime , maybe should not allow them to have the conjugal visits...make it like a punishment...but for those 'mild' crime, it can be allowed...because i think everyone has his / her own needs:P and yeah, its important to continue a certain connection between husband and wife....However, i still cant make my point clear in the moment...i am still unsure because this doesnt make sense pulak for the others who commit 'serious' crime...they have their needs too and its also important for them to have the connection with their partners too...Arghh, its hard to make a choice...

and about the giving credits card and sit and talk, i guess just happen to Scofield so far...:laugh

manslaughter is definately not mild!!! its a heavy crime... mild can be lik what u said, stealing a car... petty crimes la...
yeah mayb if this law is practiced, it can instill good behaviour among the inmates...

hahaha in a way the equation is lik this
good behaviour = green light to hav sex
bad behaviour = no sex for you!!!!!!

lolz............................ :laugh
