So which is the better deal?

I don't really think there is much difference between the two, except in terms of location. After all your degree is accredited by the foreign counterpart and recognized by both countries.

If this were the case, there are many unseen benefits of going to a foreign university for your tertiary education.

Benefits like:
1) Building a strong network since you get to meet with students from all parts of the world.

2) Learn to be more independent.

3) Experience another country's culture, lifestyle...

the list goes on.

i would like to add some more on Caprio's list :

~can learn foreign language too ( if you are going to countries with their own language ) and can learn their accent of speaking English which i think is really fun...haha...( Go England, learn the British accent, US learn America accent......)
~and i think its good if one studying abroad as its less likely for us to stay a few years overseas (except one migrate / rich enough to have trips or vacation in a particular country for years or working) to experience cultures/traditions/meeting people in that particular country and in the meantime studying also..

Not much difference between them except location, as you said and maybe the lecturers. And studying in an offshore university allows you the opportunity to transfer to the other campus on your last year of studying.

I beg to differ. There is a vast difference. Try to see the previous posts.

Question.

Do you have the money? The answer depends hugely on whether or not you have the financial means to pick either one of the choice

Depends on the course that you're interesting in.

For Economics, Law and those sort of subjects, the prestige of your University is quite important as it affects the way your future employer will perceive you. This is highly controversial but we know it well deep in our hearts.

For Medicine: You will be trained to bear great responsibilities as you wouldn't be allowed to make lots of mistakes etc. Ethics and sociology components are emphasised as well, so one tend to be more cautious and generally more efficient in their work etc. This DOES NOT mean all those trained locally are not competent or responsible. That's just a general statement. You should read more on the local senior doctors' blog and you might be able to understand more on what i just typed.

For any of the sciences: You will be taught by world renowned scientists who are at the forefront of the research field, hence have the opportunity to learn the latest technology etc.(this is the case when you're going to a reputable overseas University)

Above all, you get to learn the language and the accent(if you wish)well, yes. English in England, French in France etc. Not to mention the cooling weather that we don't get to enjoy in Malaysia and all those gorgeous medieval and gothic churches in Europe.

There you go. The fact that these two universities differ in location is actually a big enough reason why some people prefer the foreign counterpart. All the reasons stated by the other users in this topic eventually and inevitably boil down to the fact that it's located in a different land. [[Oh, and there's the prestige factor-lah.]]
