Hey yall,

I'm a JPA scholar in the US. I was wondering if it's at all possible that I do the premed track and then go to med school. I donno if it'll be useful to negotiate with JPA. After all, I've looked at some websites and Duke med school, at least, offers an excellent financial aid package to students.

Of course, I'll have to buck up my GPA. 3.6 avg for med sch. And do some other stuff to beef my resume... Not that I mind, I realize that I actually like all this stuff... Was in the OR yesterday with an eye doctor... surgery isn't as scary as I thought it would be.. and it's pretty cool the fact that doctors help so many people... the adoring faces the doctor had..

anyways, so my plan is to tell jpa that fine, i'll work for the govt for 6 years still.. in a public hospital? they don't have to pay for med school for me.. thinking of a MD-PhD or MD-JD degree actually... also ppl with MD degrees are some of the most successful folks in biotechnology.. the field i applied for initially for JPA

so this is my plan for now... i change my mind every ten minutes so hopefully this plan will stay... what do ya think?

aquila, I think there is no harm in trying to talk to JPA, although it may be tough process.

Do make sure you really want to do it, before asking, as after you get approval or making lots of efforts to ensure that you are getting the approval, and then you change your mind, that will be a big waste.

Talk to MSD before appealing. They can help a lot and also your academic advisor.
