I'm interested in health-related careers. But what are the 'hot' careers in this field besides Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy? What are the careers in this field that offer lucrative pay and good lifestyle?
I'm not interested in lab work, so biotech and biomed is out.

nurses are definitely needed everywhere in the world. and nurses jobs are very mobile too, many msian nurses are already serving overseas.
nutritionist/dietician is also getting more popular as ppl are becoming more and more health conscious and take care of what they eat.

physiotherapist and occupational therapist demand is high. However, nothing in this world would offer u lucrative pay and good lifestyle if u are not interested in what u are doing. :)

Employment of occupational therapists is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be good, especially for occupational therapists treating the elderly.
Job opportunities should be good for licensed occupational therapists in all settings, particularly in acute hospital, rehabilitation, and orthopedic settings because the elderly receive most of their treatment in these settings. Occupational therapists with specialized knowledge in a treatment area also will have increased job prospects. Driver rehabilitation and fall-prevention training for the elderly are emerging practice areas for occupational therapy.
Health-related careers will always in demand and will never enough in our country or any other countries in this world. Physiotherapist, spech therapist or occu. therapist are in demand now. This courses are offered in only 1 or 2 uni in Malaysia thats why will always not enough. Even UK, is aking for more physiotherapist. Singapore is demanding for physiotherapist too.

Not only that , today star paper reported that special education teacher are very in high demand. i guess with the rapidly progressing population in the world for the coming years, it is a norm to see that healthcare services will advance vigorously.

The only problem is financial. Private sector may not offer many vacancy as Malaysian may not able to pay for the services (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist etc.). U may end up working in government sector for the near future and it would be fine if being a government servant is not a problem for u.

speech language pathologists seem to be in high demand these days in western countries..
and nurses too..in the states..some nurses get paid as high as 70 dollars per hour..Of course its not an easy job..but the returns are not bad..again..when u compare to a physician in the states..this is a paltry some..my understand is that pharmacist get about 60-110 dollars an hour on average in the states..nurses are paid pretty well..(more so if u are a nurse clinician /practitioner).and if u are a physician..u can earn anywhere between 250 USD to..--- a few thousand dollars per hr?haha
BioMedic..but it is about the same level as medicine as far as i know. if this is true, i would suggest you to opt for medicine instead . correct me if i m wrong .

I think Malaysia is badly deprived of oncologists at the moment. I vaguely recall an article saying there were only about what, 9 of them in Malaysia at the moment? So you might want to consider specializing in oncology if you are interested. =)
Note: That was several years back though. Numbers may have fluctuated, but I doubt it'd have changed so drastically over such a short period of time.
