Hi, everyone here. I have an important information to share with you guys especially for those studying American credit transfer programme. I hope you can save your patience and spend a couple of minutes to read it; it is worthwhile and might be a precious information for you.

I was hoping to gain a degree in Psychology abroad, but the financial matter is the biggest problem which I need to deal with. I chose to do AUP ? a twining programme that enables me to complete my degree after 1.5 year in INTI. I started my first semester in January, 2008 and expected to go Australia in July 2009. After that, I need to study for another 2 years in a university in Australia to get the psychology degree as I initial planned. In the end of my second semester, I went to speak with a lady in UPO who responsible to students transfer to Australia in the future. I have been informed that I am actually needed to spend 3 years in Australia to get an honour degree. I was shocked because it was deviated from what I understood from the very beginning. She explained that the educational system in Australia has changed lately and another year is needed out-suddenly. For students like me, an honour degree is the stepping stone for us in applying postgraduate studies (known as master). It means that I have to spend 4.5 years to get my degree and 2 more years to obtain the master. Wow, it will be 6.5years!!!

Why we want to study twining programme? I believe all of us have the same answers in mind ? saving money, having more time with family and friends, etc. Yes, studying abroad and studying local are two different stories. We can save a great deal of money as the financial burden is ceased from the currency conversion. An extra year in Australia including the tuition fee and living costs is beyond the financial budget of my family. I decided to apply for other countries by using the credit hours that I earned in one year time of studying in INTI and hopefully to get the second year entry. With the help of an agent in my hometown, I sent my transcript to few universities in UK. Most of the universities rejected my application to get into second year directly as the subjects related to my own profession is limited. To be honest, the subjects that we studied are quite general in the sense of they are considered as fundamental courses in universities abroad. I studied only 2 subjects which related to psychology in INTI, while either not relevant or LAN subjects. With the help of the agent, I finally successfully gain a couple of interviews with a few UK universities, and finally got an acceptance for advance entry to second year in one university for honour Psychology degree. It means I will only spend 2 years of time to get my honor degree and another 1 year for my master. That is total up 3 years in UK instead of 5 years in Australia. Yeah, the UK exchange rate is 5.3 : 1, it is considerately cheaper than study in Australia in consideration of tuition fee and living cost.

For students like me, please check your profession and do consider the expenses that going to cost you in the country that you planned. You have no turning back if you found out the truth of ?another year? in the mid-way you studying in Australia. Another year would cost a lot, please check twice especially for some profession like lawyer, doctor, psychology, and etc. I would happy to share my experience with you guys if you face the same problem as well. If you are considering to get offer from other universities in UK with your qualification gained now, please let me know as I can introduce you to the agent. Their service is free, and I have been told that I could get commission but I don?t mind to give it back to you.
