hey, im a Monash student, and i wish to transfer over to the Clayton campus in Australia for my 3rd and 4th year. what is the average living cost per year over there? cos i dunno whether my parents can afford it T.T
what about accomodation, is it cheaper to live on campus or to find off campus sharing accomodation?

I live in Melbourne city but I do have a few friends doing medicine in Monash. From what I understand, it's much cheaper to live off-campus. The monthly living cost is around 600 to 1000 AUD, depending on how you spend of course.

Depending on what part time job it is and how long you can work every week. I haven't heard too much about people in Clayton taking up part time work because they are busy with their studies (med students), and also because Clayton is quite an outer suburb in Melbourne so there aren't really that many job opportunities around.
I am not familiar so I can't guarantee this piece of information: I think if you are hardworking enough you should be able to earn 500 dollars a month or above in a supermarket or a restaurant. An occasional, easy-going private tutoring will give you about 300 or above (this I speak from experience)

My cousin used to make 2000+ a month working around 21/22 hours a week in Tesco. He did engineering in UNSW. You just have to be smart. Try getting shifts at night, try to get weekend and weekend night shifts. You make double and triple wage that way :) Have fun making money and... graduating!

I graduated from Monash Caulfield in 2007. Caulfield is pretty near Clayton and I've been there a couple of times. I have friends who stay around the area and attended Monash Clayton.
If you want more info on living in or around the area, I'd be happy to have a chat with you :)
Just drop me an email/PM :)
