Hi, I'm kind of new here, but I have a problem. Hope I'm posting this in the right place.
Anyway, I'm going for a foundation course at UIAM in PJ and I'm leaving this Thursday. But I am also selected for PLKN to be in the 3rd batch (Idk what I did to get the 3rd batch...). So what do I do now? I'm stumped. Should I ignore the PLKN thing and just go for my course? or is PLKN compulsary? I've been searching for any info about the exceptions for students like me but to no avail.
Please reply back.
..oh and Hi~. Feels good to be here.

Ask the PLKN HQ for more info.
You can tell them that you will be studying and fax your offer letter to them, they will postpone it for you.

You can apply for it to be deferred to a later date...by which time both parties will forget all about it and you don't need to go...lol
First of all, PLKN is so not a bad thing. I mean, if u get first batch, then u can use PLKN like a place to waste your time before getting the results. :)) Okay maybe not entirely wasting time. I went to PLKN first batch for siri 6. For my case, i actually got 3rd batch same like you. Yeah, at first I wondered, what did i do wrong and stuffs like that.
I suggest you should proceed with your education provided that you tell the PLKN ppl first about whats going on. They would postpone you. .....and they MIGHT just forgive and forget about u entering PLKN.
But, seriously, PLKN is a fun thing provided it doesnt coincide with education, of course! :)):))

PLKN is fun if u go to the right camp. I went to a nice camp. My bro's was horrible. Then again PLKN is indeed compulsory. You have to go. Unless you have good reasons like that u want to continue with ur studies, u should apply to defer. In your case, I would also defer if I were you. After all, this is involving your future and that NS is only for fun and nothing else. But seriouslyla guys.. NS is fun except for the pembinaan karakter classes(i cannot help but feeling sleepy most of the time) as well as other classes lar.. it all sux.. only the outdoor activities rock.. especially during waja diri camp when u go to the forest. That is the best time! Overall, NS will be a nicer place without classes..

The forms you need are here : http://www.khidmatnegara.gov.my/borang.htm
What you do, is fill borang 1 for this year, and then for every year after that fill borang 2. Photostate everything that you send in --> chances are low that they will actually reply, but just send anyway, so you're covered if they decide to make an example of you

A little bit off topic - OMG! That is so true. Thank god they sent me to Kem PLKN Princess Haliza, Sepang. It is ranked 2nd in whole Malaysia. HAHAHA. :amuse
OH && Of corse, the classes sucks right? I dont think they could provide any help for us, atleast not me. Im still myself. Patrotism class, well, maybe a little bit. Since now, I like to listen to those patriotic songs. HAHAH. YES! Outdoor activites are the BOMB! Especially you had to build camps during Wirajaya. And of course compete in the Exercise Wirajaya. Oh good. Sweet memories.
But of course, on top of it, if it meddles with your future then just forget about it. Altho.. Yes, it is compulsory. Ive seen older students like aged 24 enter the camp for PLKN. Maybe, its the same like your case.
Maybe after you complete your degree, and still finding the suitable job and everything, you could just enter PLKN during that period. :)

Hey PLKN letter just arrived home.
What to do? I'm planning to skip it!
I can't post the copies of surat tawaran JPA since the surat doesn't arrive yet!

Where should I mail that borang?

What you need is 3 supporting documents, what I used are certified photocopies of : Admissions letter (to the uni / to ASEAN scholarship), Fees receipts to the uni/pre-u college or an statement of sorts that someone is paying your fees (I gave up and sent a stack of "misc fees" receipts when i was in JC), and student ID card, both sides.
Plus 2 referees, basically any 2 adults not your parents.

wat if i put only one referee? and my parent as well?
eve88
22-05-2009, 02:43 PM
well, you could try... but seriously, its just put down the names, phone number and home address of 2 adults. aunts/uncles/teachers etc pick two.
The most they'll do is ask you to resubmit the form... but thats kinda troublesome for you so get it right the first time....

That's tricky.
JPA letter doesn't arrive home yet. And how could I mail everything before 16 May?
Ahhh.
eve88
23-05-2009, 07:07 AM
before the may deadline, send what you have - if nothing just send the form without supporting documents.
Anywhere from 1-8 months later you may get a reply "Please send the following supporting documents..."
then send your jpa letter + all the other documents...

23-05-2009, 03:55 PM
Oh. So, all I have to do right now is posting the form only.
Then, after I got JPA letter and after I settled all the payments, then I need to post the letter, receipt and student card eh?
I also got PASUM, but I won't go. Can I post that letter for a temporary document?

Ok so here are some details & questions I've asked Eve just now...
[quote=Buzzerman]Hello
I have some questions to ask
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/rudzz_technicolor/plkn2-1.jpg
What does the nombor rujukan mean?
And, what should I write in butir-butir kesusahan up there?
I was thinking to write like this
Saya akan melanjutkan pelajaran di peringkat persediaan di bawah biasiswa JPA. Tempoh masa pelaksanaan latihan PLKN saya adalah serentak/sama dengan tempoh pengajian tersebut.
Is it alright? :P
Um.. sounds ok
nombor rujukan is the nombor rujukan from the letter that told you to do ns in the first place....
Alright! :amuse
As you told me, I should post this borang first and will only post the supporting documents just after the JPA letter arrived right?
So, should I just leave the Senarai Dokumen Sokongan part empty?
write what you are planning to send with a "will forward later", i guess.
Okay. THANKS A BUNCH!!!! :hug

Still haven't received any updates from PLKN dept.
Gonna mail the form again tomorrow (now with a certified copy of JPA's surat tawaran :jk)
I don't yet have a student ID or even the fees receipt (JPA will pay it and I'm no yet registering though), so I just attached my offer letter.

go to your tertiary education. dont go to PLKN. such a waste of time.
activites planned there are conducted like we r children.. i am one of the PLKN trainees for kump 1 this year and i think if i worked for 3 months, i could earn nearly rm1000.
not to be pessimistic bout plkn but seriously, the moduls especially for character building and kenegaraan are like budak2 type..
supergoh

I fully agree with lindafeehily. The trainers there treat us as if all of us were kindergarten children.
Imagine they ask us to colour a cartoon.

Tuan,
Saya merupakan seorang pelajar (your course here) di (your university here).
1. ID Pelajar 2009
2. Resit untuk yuran sekolah tahun 2009
3. Surat menerima tawaran perubatan
Terima Kasih.

i actually went for one month only. second batch. hihi.
went for 3 days then came back for the JPA hospital attachment programme. took one week leave. then went for jpa interview plus "cheng beng", extended my one week holiday to 2 weeks. then went back to camp and spent 4 weeks there before i left for matrics.
got jpa scholarship and so i didn't go for matrics in the end and went back home to wait for the time for me to enrol into college.
my PLKN cert is with my friend. eventhough i didn't fulfill the 60 days requirement, i got the cert anyways. they say it's an excepton for those who got matrix or other government scholarships and have to leave early.
and i heard from my komanden that if you're selected to go for PLKN but can't go because you want to further your studies and if you are to study critical courses such as medicine, pharm, or dentistry and even engineering, you'll get the deferment (you must apply for it). the "deferment" that you're getting is actually an exemption, meaning that you don't have to ever set your foot at any of the PLKN camps.

Is Science a critical course? :notrust

haha, those examples are given by the camp komanden. but i don't think science is a critical course... unless you graduate and then start your own research to find a cure for AIDS/HIV... haha!
