I believe this is one of the most important stage of life...
Many of us have changed a lot during this stage of life...
it?s a crossroad between teenage and adulthood...
some of us have to leave our country... others might study locally..
there?s happiness and sadness... Old friends are being missed and new friends are made...
Now let?s listen to each other?s life experience....

JC life rox! At least the school admin trusts the students to organize big events, with the guidance from teacher advisors. We learn how to organize our own concerts, get our hands on orientations and big events with minimal interruption from the school admin, and stuffs... We are treated like grown ups, and learn how to shoulder big responsibilities... That's what i like about JC...

My CT Council organized a trip to Laos, to help the children there... i think... under the Youth project thingy... Each participants are sponsored about 5000 Sing bux, and the whole community project was sponsored about 20000 sing bux... Pretty much. But too bad i can't go coz they only sponsor PR and Singapore citizens.

just after SPM I was shortlisted to go for ASEAN scholarship test (has anyone seen me there?)
after taking the IQ test and English test... and after I finish making my passport.. I realised I failed to get a place there... sob sob.
and now I have to hurry because I was going to study in college and the classes have started.
I enroll myself in INTI COllege Malaysia, Nilai.
after doing some survey I find that mechanical engineering is very marketable and the field is very wide.
So I have become a DME student (mech eng)
this is the first time I live on my own.
INTI College is a well equiped college. there?s cyber cafe, swimming pool, community halll, big canteen and nice classromms. Every semester INTI will build a new building. it was at that time one of the riches college. We have a special slogan for INTI
I love INTI, INTI loves my money.
I really love what I was studying. I love the lecturers there as they are helpful and humourous. they are willing to spend time discussing with us about life... about how to be a good person etc.
this really motivates me to study... such experience makes me confident and I don?t fear adults anymore (at that time I am still young)
I love the free seminars.. it enable me to learn a lot of things and gain exposure.. the events done by student are huge.. the budget used for one activity is not less than 10 000 RM
I love my friends there too. although they are not top students, but I find them very intelligent. Sorry if I offend some of you. personally I find that a lot of genious might not do well in exam (college) but a lot of top scholars who got JPA are not intelligent.. some of them are either book worm or geeks . this is what I have observed.
sometimes we go and minum teh togather... have fun togather.. we live really like brothers.. I really miss them very much. I think they are graduated by now (I am still studying first semester in Germany, 4 more years to go)
the night life in INTI is colourful.. everynight the canteen is noisy with people eating roti canai... although home sick occur frequently but I really like to stay in INTI...
there were many activities and clubs in INTI. All those who got INTI scholarship have to be active in CCA. My friend wai hong has created i-square club... it?s about being creative and doing very huge activities...
wai hong, dennis and I were very enthusiasted in doing activities and held meeting. such experience changes me totally...
I learn to write proposal, learn to deal with people, learn to talk, learn to organise, motivate etc.
I got a lot of exposure from these activities...
at the peak of such exposure dennis and I approaches INTIMA... it?s a special group where it gives lecturers and students a chance to enter entrepreniourship....
the offer from INTIMA was.. anyone of you if you have good idea to do business, you will be given capital and technology for free... this is an offer to breed future bill gates... from then dennis and I really think a lot of stuffs to get such an offer...
we really learn a lot from INTIMA.. from then on wards I am quite business minded.. another impact on my life!!!
oh yeah.. I still continue my sport in INTI as well...
after getting JPA scholarship I left INTI..
it?was also the end of my happiest moment in this stage of life...
Cemara life.. continue later...

yeah, i agree. But they still deserve the scholarship because their hardwork pays for it, right?

yeah. good result can never prove a person is smart or successful..
it only proves that a person is commited in his study field...
some genious everyday goyang kaki and ponteng class yet still get good result.

Speaking about that...
When my midterm in SIngapore is like just a week ahead, i spent most of my time either reading in my room or reading in the gym (do weights while mugging my bio books)... Well, my roomate from China just glued his eyes to his game in laptop... Hell, he even sleep as late as me, but because he has to finished his game... And after the exam, i scored all As except a D in math, while his results were amazingly 2 Bs and 2 Cs ... i was like, WOW!

ElansarGelmir, my roommate from China was even more hardcore that your former roommate. He just slept most of the time and even when study, he studied Math Olympiad book in Mandarin (from China) to prepare for the Math Olympiad, which is after the common test and he got 4As and a gold in Math Olympiad...

personally I have experiensed something like that..
I always ponteng class and the maths teacher hate me like hell for not doing owrk and sleeping in class...
but many people are surprise why I score full A...
I always ask myself why is it so.. so that I can share with people...
maybe I learn fast... I always read outside books and find knowledge by my own... I love to have self reflection...
Maybe you are just smart.
The more I study for exam, the more information leeks out from my brain. I can never do cram studies and I cannot study early because I will forget the stuff I studied.

fish.. welcome to this new SIG...
thanx for sharing your view...
I think there?s a solution for us.
Instead of focusing on hafal + do homework + work +work +work..
I believe it?s better if we take some time to read stuff on how to inprove our memory, creativity and IQ... and practise the exercise on improving our intelligence.
that way studying would be much effective and easy...
good luck in your study!!!

When I was studying in INTEC I feel frustrated. There wasn?t any good club to join where I can learn things and gain exposure.. I feel that it was hopeless.
so I explore the whole KL so that I can find a good club to join. I was thinking of arts or music club... ( i think i have mentioned this in one of my thread where jiin joo replied me)
after finding for a long time I go to hainan association in KL. it seems thier club is busy preparing events and they don?t need members (esp in the art and music group)
but I was encouraged to join the reading society. OK... since this is the only option left I took the offer.
the reading society is robson heights reading society. it is held monthly in tian how temple... near mid valley...
OK the first time I went there I found that I am the youngest guy. in there we were discussing a book call da zhai men, 1st and 2nd volume... I haven?t finish even the first few chapters of the book...
it was a new experience for me.
the second time I didn?t receive the reading society letter..
so after that I never go back to this reading society until..
last time during chinese new year my juniors in INTEC was organising chinese new year event, Coincidently they invite the orchestra of hainan association to perform in dewan besar. I saw one of the leader of the reading association was sitting there as well.. after approaching him I found out that my address was nt written correctly (he wrote it wrongly as he see / as 1)
that?s why I never receive the activity letter..after the correction I receive the letter every month and I become one of the active member..
I learn a lot from such an association and my thinking change a lot. we read many kinds of book from literature to management. I was discussing things with engineers, lawyers and businessman etc. I learn a lot from these people and the exposure is really elusive. even now my chinese accent is different from my chinese friends.
after that I have bring a friend of my from my batch and 2 of my junior to such reading society.. luckily they have such interest as well... they learn a lot as well and now my juniors.. i think they r interested to create thier own reading society.. I hope after I go to germany they still have this good habbit of going to reading society.. hopefully they bring more friends to this society....
I remember once this reading society organise a visit to another organisation where the members were once soldier.. I forgot they are komunis or anti government or what... not sure.... most of them are old already..
after sharing thoughs with this arganisation I meet new people and learn about how they think as well.. it?s really beneficial for me and meaningful because I am doing something for the society.. the purpose of that visit is to erect another new reading society to encourage reading habits....
reading is good habit.. try to cultivate it....
I like reading as well but is it possible for a banana like me to join?

haha...I clocked 260 hours in community service in JC!
Ok...more about my Vietnam trip if you wanna read:
I spent 3 weeks there, 2 weeks doing community service and the last week doing an expedition to conquer Vietnam's highest mountain - Fansipan as part of my JC's Outdoor Club annual activity.
For the community service, we had to repair this school in Cao Lanh, about 3 hours bus ride from Ho Chih Minh (or Saigon) which has been damaged by the floods....and the cool thing is that this school is on an island in the Mekong River! (Never seen a river this wide before, it's more like a sea! The ferry trip to the island takes about 20 minutes....so go figure how wide it is)
Anyway, I was the Safety Officer for the trip and also 'Co-Foreman' as in me and my 'Foreman' friend had to plan what jobs need to be done, liase with the local contractors on what to do, making sure ppl are all working safely, drink enough water, etc...
It was real fun....gotta work with some of the locals, and the only way we could communicate was using sign language....and also the kids were pretty naughty (in a funny way) and always 'kacau-ing' some of us to the extent that we have to assign some ppl to keep the children away from the work area by playing with them =)
So what we did was raise the floor, so that the classroom won't be flooded the next time, put up the fence, replace the roof, painted the walls, and lay tiles on the floor, also repaired the benches and tables, also some of us had to teach the children English =)
Lotsa interesting things that happened during these 2 weeks but will spare you guys the reading =) So after we finished the work, the locals held a party/also sorta like opening ceremony for the school...and after that, we spent a few days in Ho Chih Minh shopping....things there are super cheap! I almost bought a wooden ship for only USD5 and also the land where most backpacking bags come from they are damn cheap as well!!! But the wooden ship was too bulky and I had to go to the mountains the next week, so I had to forgo it...sighz...still one of my biggest regrets up to now!
Anyway, the food is superb!!! The main thing which almost everyone eats is the beef-noodle soup in a kway teow like kinda shape called 'pho' (pronounced ferr) and baguettes(due to the French influence)! And again super cheap...a bowl of noodle costs about 40 sen! And their chilli is hotter than ours!!! And it's orange! First time got burnt by chilli!
haha....also experienced eating rat meat (i think the most delicious meat I've eaten so far, kinda got tricked by this Vietnamese guy but glad he did...he just ask me to eat, keep on giving the thumbs-up and so I did and never regret it! But freaked out my mom and sisters when I went home and told them about it..haha), porcupine meat (which is a bit bitter near its skin), water mocassin, and lotsa river prawns which are as big as those normal carrots we see =)
Ok so from the south we went up north in a 14 hour train ride to Sapa, nice mountain town, which looks like a French small town....anyway, you would be pretty surprised that temperatures there at Sapa averages about 9 degrees! And the nights can dip to zero at times! Also, it snows at the peak of Fansipan!
But unfortunately, due to bad weather, we had to cancel the hike up but we went trekking around the mountaineous area in Sapa, superb view....really beautiful =) Anyway, there's lotsa natives living here with quite a no. of tribes....and opium is kinda legal here, 'cos its something like a tradition of the natives! Never got to try it though....but I bought a few of those traditional costumes, and they smell very strongly of opium! I wore one and as they use natural dye, when I took it off, my whole upper body was blue! =D
So after that, our next stop's Hanoi, capital of Vietnam...pretty cool...but more expensive...but looks beautiful too...too bad didn;t manage to go to Haalong bay, voted one of the most beautiful places in the world...where the sea is as calm as a lake!
Anyway, think that's a short summary of my trip...too much to write here if you want to know everything =)

Hi everyone!!!! I would like to share my college life.
I started my college on the 20th of March right after getting my SPM results. I am studying Canadian Pre University(ICPU) in Taylors College. On the first day i went to college, it was such an excitement as i have come to a new environment.
It started ff with an orientation on the first day. All of us were introduced and briefed about this course. As this is an intensive intake, we would have to work extra hard. ICPU's system of teaching is very different from our Malaysian education system. It is more coursework based. Final exams only takes up 30% of your final marks while 70% is from our courseworks(assignments, tests, quizes, etc.). This means that this course is a very busy course.
In the beginning, I was struggling to catch up as it is very intensive and it is also because of language problems. We have to get used to using English which we seldom use in our Malaysian education system. But anyway, I managed to keep up and managed to obtain a results that is not bad for my first semester. College life is quite much lifelier than school life actually. But I do miss my school life sometimes.
