Hmm.. So i shall start mine first. I was offered a place in CYBERJAYA University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). By the way, i dont received any offer letter yet.

You can try to google CUCMS, there's not much in their website though.
Just that it's near KLIA and the course costs around 250k.

And AIMST is quite okay la. It's HUGE.
You can see their video in youtube.
I'll prefer AIMST to CUCMS, I guess.
But if possible, of course MONASH will be my first choice! :))

But, I don't know if jpa sends medicine students to MONASH.
It seems that MBBS from MONASH isn't included in jpa's list of recognised qualifications.
Hope they recognise it now. Pray.

Maybe I'll call jpa after this weekend. Wonder why it takes them so long to prepare the letters.

Monash is not in yet as the first batch of Monash Medical students are from year 2007 which means by year 2015 then only they graduate and become doctors thus only in 2015 MQA shall include Monash MBBS

nothing much. just brush up your biology and other related subject
most likely english, maths, chemistry and biology. however, this varies according to the type course given.

May i know how you know which ipts u get without getting the letter?

It was stated there at the "semakan keputusan" apps on the JPA eSila site. FYI, I dont got it the first time, I appealed. I think they state the institution for all the appeal cases. =)

Duh, isn't it unfair that overseas scholars get to choose their own universities and we don't?

guys, anyone who got medicine in Monash? I wished to get monash but didn't get it. Got AIMST instead. Is aimst good? I wanted to change into Monash but i heard rumours that JPA donot send ppl to Monash for medicine. Is that true?

Between matrics and CUCMS, don't you think going straight to foundation is better?
It's like, after matrics, there's no guarantee that you'll get the course or government university of your choice.
The advantage is, provided that you secure a place in ipta, you won't be bonded for ten years since you're paying for your own education.
But duh, why reject the scholarship when you've gotten it whereas there are maybe hundreds or thousands out there wishing fervently to be in your shoes?
Generally, CUCMS is, for all I know, not that well-known or what. You'll be doing a one-year foundation in medicine there. And, according to miracle_seed in the 'jpa 2009 Q&A' thread, petronas sends their scholars there. It's somewhere near KLIA, and oh...this may be irrelevant...you may want to check out their lecturers' list. Just visit their website. It mentioned something about a swimming pool, playground, gym...etc. Since petronas sends their scholars there, it should be very well-equipped...you know.

Hey, if jpa doesn't send students to Monash, then it's definitely a crime towards deserving scholars...a mortifcation towards quality education...a self-elicited stigma towards the scholarship itself for attempting to deny Malaysia's young brains of one of the best ipts in the country. Drama aside...yeah, I think they do recognise Monash, lol.

Errr, not sure whether AIMST is good or not. But, the facilities there are certainly state-of-the-art. Try their video on youtube. Built by MIC, it's widely dubbed as samy vellu's university, lol. Oh, it's in Kedah...so far from Sarawak. Education-wise, I think I'll prefer AIMST to CUCMS...indian lecturers are reputedly good. Oh, leoguy04, if somehow you managed to get Monash, update me, k? I still don't know where I'll be going.

Why not call jpa and ask them the ipts u got? U just need to give them your ic number..U can reach them at 03-88853377. Good luck. I got AIMST btw..

hey cattydog. I called JPA and asked. They do not recognize mbbs from Monash Sunway. Even MMC and MQA doesnt recognize it YET. Because their first batch didnt grad yet. so, it will only be recognized after evaluation in 2012 like that..SO...AIMST here i come.:)). Anyone else got AIMST? Feel free to add me in msn

Congrats!! If you can't wait to know which uni u'll be send to , just ring the JPA office at 0388853049/ 0388853377 n give ur ic and there you go. You'll know where you are heading too.

P.S : There are a lot of numbers actually. So, \try all those numbers.But, you have to be patient. Hehe, i get connected after waiting for 30 minutes. my friend, after 20 calls!! :laugh I got AIMST anyway. I think this is my third time teling that. Hehe

According to JPA, there are five ipts where they send their medical scholars:

Jpa sponsors our flights once a year, anyway.

The same applies to overseas degree, JPA just pay for your ticket when you first leave, and return ticket when you complete your course. If you are to come back in between the 4-5 years, you have to pay from your own pocket, so I think it's pretty much of the same for IPTS case.

(a bit frust cz thought will be going to monash...but nvm , life has to go on)

Why suddenly all these other universities and colleges appearing when it was clearly stated in star,websites etc. that JPA IPTS students will be sponsored to a foreign university malaysian campus ? Its like giving us students a hope and securing us a a greater comfort level just to crash us back down to a never heard uni or college !

naaah im not complaining. just that i have to go for a medical checkup every few months. just now i went to jpa n the lady said that for ppl who get aimst (which starts on the 15th of july) will be getting their letters in a week or two. any seniors from aimst that can give an insight of the campus?

No difference. Just depends on the syllabus. usually MD is following US syllabus. I'm not sure about the country. If Mbchb means Europe places and MBBS like India, Malaysia and other countries . But UM offers MD too. No worries, all same only , just diffrent name. If i'm not mistaken it's just the syllabus that differs, maybe just slightly. No worries. U MD ke, MBBS ke, MBcHB ke sama je..:))

BTW, can anyone tell me for sure that JPA does send it's medical scholar to Monash Sunway? Coz when i called and ask JPA, they said NOO!!! , but some are saying yess... I'm sick of calling JPA and asking questions. Maybe they already remember my name! Hehe

Since when JPA kept their promises? Last time they said only the international campus branch will be chosen to send their IPTS scholars including aimst. But now, got all types of uni. But, IMU is not in the list.. Haihh.. I think they only send students to the uni that they have foundation in the uni itself.

Why don't just give us chance to do alevels and then decide where to send based on the results. If we do alevels, at least we still got chance to go overseas if we do very good. I don't think using AIMST foundation i can go out of this country. Maybe that's their plan.:mad Dream crushers!!:mad

Yes. If your foundation is good, jpa will send you overseas. (Duh, I kept telling her that I got pidn but she wouldn't listen).
2. When will I get my letter?
Within this month (May).

Oh, my mother, a super gossip collector, heard from two different people that a Kuching girl who appealed, got Monash. I didn't hear about this myself, but the sources are rather convincing (one is my cousin cum the girl's classmate, and another, a woman with an extensive gossip network).

Again, don't just buy whatever the phone receptionists put into your ear.
The thing about MBBS from Monash not being recognised sounds like something they conjured up just to placade those who didn't get it.
Where's the promise about international campuses? Somehow I can't help feeling like...cheated? Contradictions galore.
From now on, I'll only believe what they say when I see everything in black and white.

are you sure? JPA will help to sponsor one until degree unless one did so badly in one's foundation which is highly unlikely since their minimum standard is quite low.

here r some info bout the medcine at monash..im not sure yet coz not confirmed as i din receive the letter yet..for those get monash ,wil have to study monash university foundation year (MUFY) for a year (2sem) which equivalent to australian year 12..MUFY offers 10 subjects which include physic,chem and bio..english would be compulsory...it will b at sunway university college ,for more info can surf www.sunway.edu.my..:)

Try calling 03-88853377 tons of time and u might get thru..Juz give them your ic number and they'll inform u the ipts u got..So far i know three students who got monash sunway and all three are in this thread. Wats even weird is that all three are girls and they are all from kuching! Wow! I guess kuching is a very lucky town and i envy u gals..But congrats anyways:)). Monash/Sunway is a great uni. Word of advice: Do not get distracted by the entertainment around sunway! It has some of the finest clubs in Malaysia! Enjoy:P

Hmm.. So i shall start mine first. I was offered a place in CYBERJAYA University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). By the way, i dont received any offer letter yet.

i went to check out the campus yesterday, and it's not really a huge campus like AIMST and MONASH, it's more like a mini campus. and it's new.
they are linked with the ministry of defence and MERCY malaysia.
u'll be staying in an off-campus town-house villas/condo..so u can drive if u own a car..what else?
this july intake is their 2nd intake actually..so we'll have senior from the may intake.
but it's really new u know, their first batch of student is graduating this year. so we don't know yet what to expect.
so, i guess that's it.
i'll be seeing you in about a month from now..
keep me updated if u have any other news about the scholarship.

It's stated clearly that they sponsor all their scholars until degree.
And you can call them for double reassurance.
You're worrying because of the 'foundation/persediaan' phrase isn't it?
That's a mistake la, and it's very old news.
They clarified everything in the 'makluman' thing long time ago.

Oh, if you prefer matrics, then stay la.
But if you're set to do medicine, better accept the offer.
If not, you may take the risk of not getting the course or university of your choice after matrics.
You know jpa sponsors medicine scholars to ipta too?
They'll be given the chance to choose the place they want before you non-ipta scholars do.
Can't imagine someone adapting to matrics la, my friends who go there are full of complaints.
Given the choice, I'll go for ipts.

Anyway, it's your life and your choice.
There's more than one way to skin a cat, and there's more than one way to get your MBBS.

Yes, i think we have to. Because one of my friend who got ipts accounting has gone to Multimedia University (because their foundation programme started earlier). She has got her letter and she told me that they will do the body check up there.

and as a normal student i was worried about the place not being good
*i hoped 4 a better place like monash (the dreamland of IPTS medicine :) )

eventually i accepted the fact that jpa wouldnt send us to a crappy place
therefore cucms is expected to be good although its quite new

-medicine is an extremely tough career -but the comeback is worth it

many ppl would die to be in our place and are now forced to do form6 or etc.

Hi! I m offered CUCMS too. honestly, I have my doubt too, for the same reason as yours. But in my opinion, if u are very certain that medic was ur one and only dream, then, i would say go for it. (If ur family cannot support u financially to the other IPTS with better reputation.) As we all know, in Malaysia, even if u scored straight As (not even an A-), it is unlikely that u will DEFINITELY got medic in public U. (Different case if u r a BUMI or u r in matric.)

Besides, there are one reply here, in this thread that says students frm CUCMS are performing quite okay during their clinical years ( a review by a MO if I am not mistaken). I have no idea how real is that. But u might want to take that into consideration.

This is your future, just do whatever u think u should. And most importantly, dont regret. :wink

You can try but for your year I don't really think it's a high chance of success. Hey, you get scholarship be happy :) don't think so much about going where laa haha...:)

Last year was the first time this programme was launch so the JPA scholars under this programme was the first batch and so we are able to make transfers and so on. I tell you last year, all medical students MUST go to either Form 6 or Monash University. So practically majority of the medical students came to Monash U which I can say one word like my medical friends, 'tough'. Anybody get MUFY and come to Monash, I want to see your faces after you finish the foundation programme. I can still remember the director of MUFY saying to us, 'MUFY is a foundation programme that is killing you softly from within'

1.Yes, all under this foundation programme must go have body check. Don't worry about the reproductive organ check, only girls kena, guys won't kena. Girls kena also will see a female doctor so don't worry laa.

2.Allowance is RM430 for ALL STUDENTS. Doesn't mean you medical students you going to get higher allowance because you still in pre-u, you haven't even made it to medical degree or confirm to have been allocated a seat in the medical degree.

3.After you confirm going to medical degree, you have to apply online again like me, the seniors muahahaha. Okay whatever, then the allowance will increse to RM770 plus other allowances such as book allowance and so on. Conclusion total RM900 per month (I think)

4. I am not sure about your year but I think you will get your allowances through Bank Islam bank. The accounts will be made ready for you by JPA. All you have to do if wait for the confirmation order from JPA then go to any Bank Islam branch and tell them you are JPA scholar and they will guide you to do the rest.

Ext. JPA bond is 10 years for medicine regardless of whether u JPA luar negara or dalam negara. If u JPA dalam negara and u are not applying for medicine, then it is not 10 years but varied. ONLY medicine is 10 years.

5. Those get AIMST will do foundation in science there and then do medical degreea at AIMST. You will be attached to a Kedah general hospital for your clinical research

6.Those get UCSI, will do A-Levels, and then medical degree at UCSI. You will be attached to a Terengganu general hospital OR a new one in Port Dickson.

7.Those get Monash U, will do MUFY, Monash University Foundation Year programme in Sunway University College. Then you will do medical degree in Monash University Sunway Campus. You will be attached to a Johor general hospital OR going to Australia for Clinical research depending on availability of seats in Australia's hospitals. However, conclusion, you will EVENTUALLY go to Australia to study your medicine degree. Like twinning programme.

8.Okay anyone going to MUFY, pm me please coz if you don't you will regret it. JPA will not give book allowances to you all so you will have to use your own money to buy them. If you are going for Medicine degree, you are compulsory to take Chemistry and English subject. You will also probably take Biology.

Thus, you will need books. Books required by MUFY are expensive, RM100 and some RM70. JPA seniors can sell you second hand books in good condition for a cheaper price. You will have to pm me coz when you go to Sunway, all the JPA seniors have already finished the foundation programme so they won't be there to meet up with you or assist you in giving you notes or whatsoever.JPA seniors will only come back but not to Sunway, to Monash University next year.

relax. JPA have promised you all that you will get the letter at least a week before your intake. So, better prepare to go shopping or go shopping first to avoid doing things last minute.

3. No nid apply again. As long as ur result meet the minimum requirement of the medic degree of ur respective Private Uni, jpa will continue sponsor u.
4. Not sure abt this.
5. My fren who get ipta already get taklimat from jpa. They said that the details n policy of ipta is not listed because this policy (ipta as well as ipts) is too new. This is the firstyear. So more n more policy will be added into the perjanjian.
6. Not sure. Shud be payback what they've spend

According to the 'STEP BY STEP GUIDE', we have the 'Check in accomodation' in Step 4, and i think it will be on 30 June. so no problem for us. But for our parents, i think they should live in hotels nearby or at relative's house. But I m not sure that if there is any hotel nearby:oh.

According to the 'STEP BY STEP GUIDE', we have the 'Check in accomodation' in Step 4, and i think it will be on 30 June. so no problem for us. But for our parents, i think they should live in hotels nearby or at relative's house. But I m not sure that if there is any hotel nearby:oh.

I think we better keep our booking intinerary of the flight. maybe we can claim for it later

Do you mean claiming for the flight ticket? I think I saw it somewhere mentioned in the letter. Just keep the booking intenerary 1st, won't do any harm. I am same as everyone, still blur, not very sure. i heard from the seniors that jpa does give allowance for A-level students. But only for East Malaysian studying in West Malaysia.
Wait until jpa or the ipts tell us to do, if they don't mention, then we go and ask them.

it is actually the same just its called differently MD is us based medicine and MBBS is uk,india.etc based medicine..and there not much difference in both syllabus.

I don't think its in the pack that they send to you. But it does show a schedule for a briefing from jpa officers so i guess thats when they tell you.

Yes, I got Monash. Sorry I can't help you with the briefing. But I'd say just follow the instructions given, meaning if it didn't mention anything about opening your account, don't do so, coz they WILL tell you when and where to open it. One of my friends went for the French program, she only received instructions to open her account AFTER reporting at the college. So try not to worry too much.

For those who got UCSI, I got some information. I just called JPA. The offer letter hav some mistakes. Our A-level programme is actually 1 and a half years, they will correct it when we register at UCSI I think. And we hav to pay the booking fees for accomodation of about rm1000, which JPA are trying to negotiate a lower price for us the JPA students. It is refundable when we leave the college. For those who got UCSI, I got some information. I just called JPA. The offer letter hav some mistakes. Jpa's letter says 18 months, but Sunway's booklet says 1 year.
Actually it's only 1 year (2 semesters) but if can't cope, can extend another semester.
MBBS will be at Monash Sunway, of course.

Uh, someone mentioned something about an application form for accomodation...irin91? Nope, don't have, just a blue-coloured application form from Sunway...nothing to do with accomodation.

Uh sleepygoat, jpa's letter (the carbon one), says that we have to send the 'borang menerima biasiswa' within 30 days from the date of the letter.
Mine is dated 16 June, so I have to send it to them before 16 July.

And, about our attire during registration day...of course FORMAL!
At least a collared t-shirt and black slacks la.
Not sure about other institutions, but for those going for MUFY, there's a taklimat from jpa representatives on the first day, we all want to secure a good first impression, right?

That ends a long long period of anxiety and torturous waiting.
For now, I'll start getting busy with preparations.
