the garis panduan - information
http://esilav2.jpa.gov.my/esila_new/pdf/Garispanduan%20Pinjaman.pdf

open from 1 jun to 31 august 2009 and they have two application dates, the other one being 1 dec to 28 feb for those going to australia.

i've used the search engine but ntg similar came up so i think this is a new thing, haven't heard of it before. is anybody applying for this?

i don't think i'm eligible because it says you have to at least study for one year overseas. Loan is RM250,000 for medicine, dentistry and veterinary, and RM 200,000 and no interest charge when you pay back if I'm not wrong O.o
plan to take this next year if i don't get the program ivy league dan setara...

haha, good to know...

but i wonder why they need us to have gone through at least one year of studies oversea first?
to ensure we can pay the rest of the fees ourselves? O.o

Yeah, I'm puzzled about this ruling also. Maybe this is to reduce the amount they have to loan out?

Err well, I think JPA wants to make sure that we can cope with our studies overseas before giving us the loans so that we won't drop halfway after 1st year. A friend's brother who's doing pharmacy in Uni of Nottingham, UK did apply for this loan during his 2nd year. However, I personally feel that the max. amount of the loan is considerably little if we take into account the high escalating inflation rate + living cost overseas. Ermm, what about 250,000 pounds/aussie dollar. That will seal the deal hahahaha!

well, it is in fact not much if you take medicine, probably less than 1/4 of the costs
but i'm just taking a basic degree so it would cover about more than 1/3 of the cost, including inflation should be around 1/3~

and yeah, i think that's probably the main reason too :p
so that we wouldn't drop halfway XD

250,000 pounds would be lovely though ^^

Just curious. For medicine, do we need to work for the government for 10 years if we take the loan?

If we don have to, let's say the amount of loan is rm250k. Do we need to pay back in full? Every single sen?

Thanks

I have another ques. I'm in 3rd yr now. If one is willing to work for d gov for 10yrs, does it mean tat we will get the 250k loan without paying back or the amount of d loan is based on how much is our fees?

The amount should probably be based on your tuition fees since it would be more efficient for jpa to pay it directly to the accounting office. After all, the loan is for tuitions only.
