Yahoo mail accounts will send the invite into the spam folder.

So check it there.

This is because I noticed 2 ppl whom I sent the invite didn't confirm their registration, and both are using yahoo accounts.

This is confirmed by Gmailswap.com.

Sorry guys, no more gmail invites from me. I've used up all my invites. Hmm....but I think gmail will be availble to the public real soon. I personally prefer yahoo to gmail. Although gmail is 10times more storage than yahoo.

Anyway, if u guys still want a 1GB email account, there are a few out there already besides gmail. You can try walla (www.walla.com) or spymac (www.spymac.com). But try with ur own risk ya? :wink:

Probably ur friends are lucky. But some tips to get invitations for gmail users:

1) use ur email frequently (1GB of space...ask ur frens to forward everything, no worries)

2) give feedbacks to gmail support team. Tell them what u think about gmail, what to improve, and etc.

3) use ur email for www.blogger.com. Among the earliest to receive the invitations to use gmail are frequent bloggers. Google wants ppl to support them i supposed.

4)do nothing, just wait(like me). :lol:

They all started from Google employees themselves last year. Each employee got 5 initially and periodically afterwards. Then there's an algorithm to decide when you get invites.. I'm not sure what pandaboy said about steps to get more invite is true, but it does "seem" so. You can probably trace it to some tech companies (their friends in school went to work for google) or other community where people in American tech companies are actively involved in.

I guess it is a clever way to scale your system slowly, as well as keep the anticipation high. I think those who start geting invites should spread their offering out to various groups so that they can invite other friends in their groups. The increases exposure (e.g. I learned all about gmail before I got an invite) in various community, which I think is crucial to the mentality of those who lurk online like me :)

There's nothing to show off about having gmail. Almost everyone has it. It's overrated anyway.

I just made this to make it more interesting for people to get the invites instead of just pleading for it.

Suppose you are offered a digital camera for free. You are given two choices: a 3 megapixel Canon and a 6 megapixel brand X. Which one do you choose?

As for me, I'd choose Canon, even if it's just 3 megapixel compared to the 6 megapixel brand X. Why? Because to me brand matters!

Although this might not be the best analogy for the free gigabytes email issue, it's somehow related to the idea of a brand. I'm sure some people here chose GMail because it comes from Google, and Google is a 'brand' already well-known over the cyberspace as a reliable service provider. We can rest assure that our emails are safe if a subsidiary of Google is handling them.

If you choose those 'X brand' free emails, be it 'rediff' or 'spymac', who knows what will happen to your emails in the future ...

Unless of course if you trust those ... or if you don't care about anything ...

Because I know some people use internet only to flirt and to spam .. I hope you are not one of them ... please! :wink:

you know how google search works right? they more hit on specific webpage the most likely the page to be on the rank.

the email helps google to find out what people want. That's why they gonna scrutinized word by word in your gmail. thus, they will help them with the ranking. it's actually good in some way but i just see it as invation of privacy. even if you close the account the stuff that they get from you will always be in their database.

some people don't really care bout it but I do.

btw, that's how's spam works too.

Gmail goes 2GB?

gmail is planning on increasing the limit of storage per user to 2GB (previously 1GB). Users have been recieving this new storage limit starting yesterday (March 31).

I have 50 Gmail invites (yeah i heard me, it's fifty), so, let me know if you want one or two.. or whatever..
