erm, do u by any chance have the marking scheme for those past year papers? It's downloadable at certain websites. You can check how marks are being attributed to each questions, what do they look for, and how do you justify ur argument.
Generally, a typical essay question will only require about 2-3 points, whereby in each point you will need substantial elaboration and supporting examples in order to make the point a good one.

(@<hidden>, assuming you're taking CIE A-Levels here.) You can find Business Studies tips/examiner reports here at http://www.cambridgestudents.org.uk/
Judging from your queries, your Business Studies lecturer has probably emphasized hitting the KCAE-s (Knowledge/Context/Analysis/Evaluation) for the essay portions of the exam.
Personally, I feel that critically evaluated, balanced and reasoned answers are better than ones striving to follow a formulaic approach. For a well-written 12 mark essay, you need to know the business principles behind the decisions that you might recommend for the scenario given in the question, and expound on them in a real-world context. Most importantly,is it practical? The examiners don't want to see a reproduction of whatever's written in your business text book- contribute ideas of your own, but validate them with knowledge from your Business Studies classes.
There are no limits on the number of points for a 12-mark essay, but given the time limit, I'd say it's about 4 *main* points max. [Rough guide only=K-4,C-2,A-3,E-3]
