do u think kindergarten is good for children?

I think it is expensive. small boys learn nothing one.

On the contrary, children learn the most during those years. Kindergarten allows for some (the academic part) of those learning to happen.

An effort to home-school might be better. But then, children pick up basic social skills in kindergarten. I say it depends on the quality of teaching.

Kindergarten means children-garden
in german

it?s a place for small children to have fun and build good memories..
perhaps it helps children to build a social network before going to standard one..
for sure the children will meet thier kindergarten class mates in form 1 right?

Playing is 1 of the best ways a kid can learn...dun think they learn nothing.
Anyway, one can't determine the future of a kid in kindergarden. Kids should have fun and learn more about their environment...not attempting calculus questions....
Lesson for modern Chinese parents to think about!

I vaguely remember my kindy days but I dun think one could predict how I would end as what I am now based on what I did in kindy....

I still remember one of my kindergarten days when my teacher taught us kids about the petroleum layers inside the earth .. we were like "teacher, let's eat lunch already"

anyway, I agree that playing is one of the ways children learn .. remember those colorful lego blocks some of us used to play with? does anyone want to say that we didn't learn anything from it?

I played lego since i was 5 years old and it really inspired me to become an architect. Right now i will put my best foot forward to realise my dream. I am strongly agree that playing is one of the ways of learning for children.

Kindergarten is the place for children to get their very first exposure about the society. They get to see more people, get to know friends and learn about many things especially on social skills. You know..... small kids tend to be more active when come to this kind of things.

Kindergarten is the first step for you to build up your social skills with your friends... if u have private tutors, chances are, you won't have that many friends... Most of our friends are from our kindergartens, agree?

hmm.. i have a friend for also 13 years...too bad he had to cope with my antics lol :)

Anyways i don't think kindergarten is a waste of time.... i mean it's the beginning of kids to socialize, so that they can cope in std 1 better. As for the money ,well sometimes sacrifice is needed to achieve great benefits...don't you think?

Hehe... just go to Yahoo search engine, type Animation... go to animation factory. there's lots of them to be chosen from. anyway, digressed liao. later either this thread got locked up or this msg got deleted.

TASKA is Taman Asuhan Kanak-kanak, while TADIKA is Taman Didikan Kanak-kanak. i think both serve the same purpose... Age wise, i dun think there's a difference. it's just the name. We even have TABIKA.

I know this is a little irrelevant to the issue but I know this friend ah

He and this girl, which I also know, have been very 'good' friends since kindy 2 until now....my parents once told me that me and other kids always tease them ...you know...'he likes her' etc etc and made her cry....

Now...they already staying together.I think they will get married after they graduate.
How sweet.......

Interesting story which I like to share with you guys.

iQing... few times already I saw you mentioned about love at first sight.... really can see that you strongly believe it... :D

Personally I think that love at first sight not really work for everyone lor..... If one fall in one person with love at first sight but if the person not feeling the same ler.... this "love at first sight" wont be working at all ma... right? :P

Anyway, iQing, I am happy for you that you get your love one through the first sight....

emmm.... refers back the topic of this thread... out of topic already right? :P

Let's back to the right topic here... "kindergarten".

Well, still remember heard people saying that a lot of kids become lazy to study after "enjoying" thier kindergarten years. If I am not wrong, many parents do send thier kids to kindergarten for 2 years
or more. At the same time, parents do push thier kids to learn this and that since they are still small.

I think most of the kids nowadays is not really enjoy thier childhood life while parents keep on giving them the "stress". Most of them might be everyday hear something like this from thier parents:

" you ar... must study hard.. you know?"
"study hard only can be a doctor or engineer at your future."
"if you not study hard now ar... next time you only will be like your dad that just work as a worker with low salary la..."

Do you guys think that kids really do enjoy thier life in kindergarten? Sometimes I just feel that they feel more stress than us now.

Poor kids!
