Just Started Form 4

Hello There,i just started form 4 and i need some help,can anyone advise on various subjects in science stream and the compulsary ones espspecially BIO,BM and Add-Maths.I hav totally no clue on the formats and seek Help,like how to study and stuff.Any help is welcomed.

Btw Heard tht this year the Novels for BM and BI has Changed,I'm from Selangor:mad.

Yes. The literature pieces for English and Malay language have changed for the current Form 4's. And please don't be nervous for the new stage. Just cool down and believe everyone is going through the same thing as you are now. It's the first day of school and do remember to enjoy your school life fully!I know you can do it since you are starting to prepare even from now.

Since you are in the Science stream, I think you'll need some time getting used to Physics. But once you know how it's going, it'll be easy. Do more exercises, memorize the principles and facts. As for Biology, you need to pay attention in classes and read up your notes. For me, reference books are important. And Chemistry is like the combination of both, once you understand it, it wouldn't be hard. Except for the part you need to memorize all the chemical names, the reactivity series and stuffs. And do ask questions in classes! There's nothing to be ashamed of, believe me. :wink

There are totally three papers for each science subjects. Paper 1 consist of objective questions, Paper 2 consist of structural questions and essay questions, whereas Paper 3 is regarding the laboratory test. If I'm not wrong, I think there's Paper 4 for PEKA too. And for that, just listen to the instructions of your teachers in school.

As for Add Maths. do tons of exercise regularly and it'll be easy for you. :)) Ask around your teachers and friends for guidance if you need to.

Lastly, read up a lot to increase your general knowledge if you want to score in BM. You have to write things that are different from normal to impress your teachers and gain high marks right?

So best of luck for the new year! And do be involved actively in your extra-curricular. You'll learn a lot. :amuse

Haha, school's started today huh! I think you don't need to worry about the formats because I'm pretty sure your teacher will tell you about it in the first lesson. If you encounter any questions which you cannot understand or comprehend, you can always post it here and there will surely be bunch of recommers willing to help you to solve it. Do remember, don't hate any subjects that you dislike. Try your best to like it and understand it. :P

Why are you angry that the novels, poems and short stories are changed? :huh

Anyway, I agree with Restl3ss that you should take part in more koko activities to gain experience and have fun. Do collect the certs given especially the ones which are national or even international level. You will get very busy in form 5 and find it too tiring to participate in any of it. Lastly, do enjoy yourself! Don't get stressed out while studying. :)

well, i think it's a good thing that Bukit Kepong (form 4) is out of the syllabus. i think it's too long, boring and depressing.

too bad you lose Konserto Terakhir (form 5) in the process, it was a good novel and worth reading.

and sorry I dunnoe how to quote,the reason i'm angry at them changing the novels and stuff at my year is because all the reference books on literature are useless now :cry

and sheesh our modern maths teachers has taken holiday for 3 months,So No one is teaching us tht subject now,as the replacement teachers don't.Dang! but I heard tht is easy though,on I havent gt any reference book on it either ==

is Tuition necessary? I'm an average student with normal grades but hope I can excel,if I can save on tuition fees I would,I think I shld just wait and see whether i can cope up anot...

any place where I can see whether the syallbus has changed anot? because I have sum reference book from some ppl but I dont noe whether the syallbus has changed and whether it is still usable...

do u need to make another set of notes except the Homework notes which normally i simply and do it in a hurry? I never do notes because i do not know whther which is important and which isn't so I just read and read and read from the reference book.

So, I think you will do just fine with such little change to the system.

I would say that tuition is not really necessary for a student to excel in his studies. I did my upper secondary school with almost no tuition (beside BM and Add Maths) and managed to excelled in it. Just take tuition for the subjects that you are weak in and use the rest of the free time to do extra-curricular stuffs, as well as revising the other subjects. Remember, if you are not taking tuition, you will need the personal resolve to do what is necessary for your success. This is the skill that you will need in your university years, so cultivating it now is of paramount importance.

If you have the habit of reading your own notes, then continue doing it in upper secondary. Simply doing the notes means wastage of time. :notrust No worries for maths, its really easy in the first few chapters. Do some read ups on your own and ask other math teachers in your school if you have any problems. You can also post your question here and many recommers can help you solve it. :)

And before you know it, it will all be over and you begin reminiscing the good old times with your old schoolmates...

My (clich?d) advice: Work hard, play hard. And enjoy every moment you have in upper secondary because you will never go through it again. To me this stage of life is one of the best... But that depends on how your experience will be though...

form 4 is the beginning of a new exciting life (at least for me :lol)

study hard, but don't forget to make beautiful memories with your friends. you'll cherish that later xD
