Here's an update:
I got a call from Yayasan Cemerlang yesterday... The good news is they are offering me a full scholarship WITHOUT going for further interview session with them but the bad news (is it? lol) is I have to study at Unirazak @ CAPSQUARE in Bachelor in Accounting (Hons) with CPA Australia. I have till Monday morning to give them my decision. So any thoughts? I'm still in doubt. If i'm not going for this one, I'll be heading for UiTM Shah Alam for the same course but without any professional exam or scholarship... Which I don't mind really. My heart tells me to stick to UiTM (I'm a UiTM diploma leaver) yet this one I think is a good opportunity and irresistible offer. |

First of all, congrats!
I have yet to receive a call from them.. *nervous* I was hoping OCBC would call first since they closed earlier. Amazing how Yayasan Cemerlang managed to pull it off in one week. Hmmm something's not right here... We were supposed to go through an interview (Remember, at the back of the application form it says ''Interviewed by'' after the Accept/KIV/Reject column? Why are they NOT interviewing candidates now? Feel something amiss. I see...I dunno much about Accounting because I did not research on it. It's on my NO list Hahaha. But don't you think your cert would carry more weight if it's affiliated with a professional body? While everyone else is fighting for a scholarship you have one, for the right course, with a reputable accounting body in Aust. What's not to like? You did not mention why your heart tells you to stick to UiTM, would you mind sharing with us the reasons why? Perhaps it would enable us to get a better understanding of your thoughts. Ooooohh oui of course! This scholarship is to die for!Full scholarship: covers tuition, living expenses and full waiver on all registration and annual fees... Neither the Award nor the Letter of Offer shall be taken as a promise or offer of employment by Yayasan Cemerlang to Recipient, nor will Recipient be required to serve Yayasan Cemerlang under any contract of employment, for any reason or at any time whatsoever. Dunno about you but that is definitely music to my ears Well, it's your call, think thoroughly and decide carefully! Scholarships are never easy to secure, let alone one that does not put you through barriers like interviews prior to awarding you!

Well, first of all it's all about my perception of the IPTS. I'm not quite fond with the idea of me studying at a private institution. And neither is my dad.. He backs me on this one. Secondly, I am very much familiar with how UiTM works. I know the culture, how things work etc. Thirdly, accounting has always been UiTM's flagship course. It is THE only IPTA certified by ACCA as platinum tuition provider for its candidates. UiTM's degree has always been ACCA-oriented. Fourthly, only selected students are offer to study at Shah Alam's Faculty of Accountancy. This also means better exposure to job market (as it is already well-established) plus you get to meet your potential employers (the big four firms, SC etc) and get new skills through workshops conducted by major professional bodies such as ACCA and CIMA (because I heard from my seniors that these people conduct programs regularly).
Wow... I think I clearly made my point

Hmm...What are your perception on IPTS, if you don't mind? We all are familiar with our first uni. This goes for everyone. After spending at least a year there it becomes very much a comfort zone. Life begins when you get out of your comfort zone. Oh I see...That's interesting, didn't know that
Well, I'm sure the Aust body is as good as this one, although I am not in a position to compare and contrast the two. I see, then it says a lot about the prestige Do you get to intern before you graduate? The workshops are a bonus! All unis should have that to expose their students. Yeah you made yourself crystal clear alright. That's all the pros of UiTM. Now for the pros of the UniRazak program? Won't be fair to decide on one without looking at the plus points of the other right? Don't forget you could get everything covered out of this one. Let's hear both sides of the story shall we?

UPDATE.
I just called Yayasan Cemerlang. Applicants would be able to check on their status through their website after the Raya Holidays, they're getting it fixed now. He didn't say if it would be the list of successful applicants like Zuhelmi, or the release of names short listed to go through the interview. Zuhelmi consider yourself one lucky guy.
