according to my German friends, RWTH's the best mechanical engineering uni in Germany....but according to my S'porean friend studying there, universities in Germany generally do not rank themselves against each other 'cos each university is supposed to be the same? & also that TUM's the richest university in Germany - well-funded, new facilities, etc. Is it true?

I won't say all of them are the same per se; Ranking among universities in Germany is something relatively new, unlike universities in the States. TUM has enjoyed a very good reputation, and judging from the high entry requirements, they may rightly do so. As for RWTH, they must be pretty good in coming top among the engineering schools. Those who are studying engineering might be able to tell you more. Basically FH(Fachhochschule=Applied Science universities) are meant to be more practical oriented, while universities are more theorectical. I think these were mentioned in a previous post above.

Does Germany has "big brand' company other than BMW and Mercedes?(industries that have connection with enginneering)

Thanks...
There are tonnes of big brand companies in Germany! BASF, Bosch, SAP, Audi, Porsch, Volkswagen, DHL, Heavy machine industries like Hahn & Kolb, Deckel etc etc. And that's to name a few founded in Germany. There are also hundreds of companies who base part of their operations in Germany such as Nokia (3 R&D in Germany), EADS, Michelin, Takata-Petri, etc.
Is DHL origin from germany? I thought it's from San Fransico?

DHL is the logistics and courier brand for Deutsche Post. Originated from San Francisco but acquired by Deutsche Post in 2002.

5 years old question that never get answered the answer is jpa sponsors students to study anything about engineering that the student wants. After all students decide what they want to study in Germany (with some restrictions of course).

I am studying aerospace in Uni of applied science Bremen. There are one in Hamburg, Berlin, Osnabr?ck, Augsburg, Aachen and Munich too. These are too few compared to other course such as mechanical, automotive or electronic tech.
