The position vector of points A,B and C are a=4i-9j-k, b=i+3j+5k and c=pi-j+3k respectively.

(A) Find the value of p such that A,B and C are collinear.
(B) If p=2, find the position vector of D so that ABCD is a parallelogram.

Please help.....Thanks.

if ABC is collinear , then points A, B and C lie on the same line
( Imagine a straight line consisting A,B and C )
x distance between A and B = y distance between B and C
so, x(AB) = y(BC)
x(OB - OA) = y(OC-OB) You solve it
x(-3i + 12j + 6k) = y[(p-1)i - 4j - 2k]
By comparing and solving the simultaneous equation, you will get x = -1/3, y = 1
Substitute both the values of x and y into -3x = y(p-1)
you get p = 2
Hope my answer is correct
