my friend that just went to the interview today (26th) said it was all in one essay, but you should make two; one in BM and one in BI.
ok....let's see..the arahan in da borang stated this:

LAMPIRAN: Dengan ini saya lampirkan karangan mengenai perihal diri, rancangan pengajian dan kerjaya dalam bahasa melayu/bahasa inggeris mengikut kesesuaian kursus yang akan diambil dalam 300 patah perkataan.

the way i understand is dat:
1. all three topics( diri, perancangan pengajian dan kerjaya) in one essay of about 300 words
2. essay in english if the course dat u want is in english and vice versa..

please correct me if im wrong.....
i just call mara...and u are right...we just need to do one essay and prefer in english......
it means that all da three items are written in 300 words??

Hello, I've just got back from the MARA interview, thought I'd just give my little review about it.

I didn't realize so many people chose TESL, I was quite surprised to meet so many. I had the interview at the MARA building in KL; they reserved two floors (if I'm not mistaken) for the interview sessions. My floor had about 11 panels of two people, mostly one man and one woman. Students who did not choose TESL left right after their interview. TESL applicants were required to write a 300-350 word essay after it. (Yes, another essay after the one we submitted at home.)

For my first time, I think it went pretty well. Unlike JPA, this was conducted individually, so they only had you to hammer. My session lasted about 20 minutes. The Mr asked abt my personal life while the Mrs asked about being a good teacher. They didn't ask me about current issues, which surprised me a bit, lol.. I went sleepless for nothing. I was so nervous at first that I got stuck at their very first (somwehat offhanded) question: "So Nurul, what did you have for breakfast today?" After that little warm-up, everything else was smooth sailing, thank God. They all look strict, but if you're confident and know the right things to say, you can definitely soften them up!

Now that it's over, all I can do is keep praying. Good luck to everyone else, have fun at it!

Oh, how do you know it? If that is the case, what does the purpose of the 2nd round interview serve for?
coz my friends who didn't appeal were called for the interview and i sent my appeal letter on the day the lists of those who're called for the 2nd round of interview was released (i didn't check online that day).

hey,i just came back from the second round jpa interview...almost all of the interviewees there were non-bumiputera...my essay title was: i am qualified to apply for a scholarship and also a loan, which 1 will i choose?the discussion topic was: rape and murder cases increase due to the wide spread of pornographic materials, do you agree?

well, i got the reply from my interviewer,Ms. Ramona, she's such a nice and friendly woman and has given me lots of tips that will favor me in the future interview. Now, let's me share her opinions v all of ya.
As you know the purpose of any interviews (be it for furthering your studies or job applications) are among others :
1. to have a look at the candidate
2. to gauge the personality
3. to test the language/s ability
4. to certify the required qualifications
5. to gauge the level of knowledge, maturity & abilities to present
views/ideas

That is quite a lot to be gained in a few moments time. So, an advice is a candidate must project himself/herself (in a positive way, of course) in order to be noticed by the interviewer. This can be done during the self introduction & discussion. Reading a lot on general issues will give you more ideas during discussion. What's important is your own views on issues and how well your views are supported by the ideas you gave.

Why don't I just share some of the experiences I had with interviewees and things you should avoid:

1. Too quiet - does not offer ideas until called upon
2. Try too hard to participate - be a leader but not sure of the ideas being given .
3. His stand/opinion on issues is not firm - giving in easily to
arguments.
4. Too nervous until it shows - fidgeting, crossing & uncrossing of
legs, rocking, weird gestures etc
5. Trying too hard to impress
6. Avoiding eye contact with interviewers

Basically, all you have to do is be yourself and SMILE a lot. Another
point to remember when the interview is related to government is dress appropriately - meaning shirts (preferably long sleeve), slacks & proper shoes for men & suitable dresses/suits for for women.

In this world, competition for anything is tough. Try to look at
disappointment as an opportunity. Studying in local U is an opportunity as well. Well...for my first degree I studied in a local U too. As long as you hold on to your dreams always strive for the best.

Best Wishes!
