Which university in US is good for chemical Engineering???

i plan to go US and i dont know which university i should apply. i heard that the students in prestigious university like princeton or cornell are mostly rich kid and u have to have political influence to enter these good universities. is that true? i heard that the people are not friendly too. anyone here wana advise me about the universities in US? any good universities for petroleum engineering in nice environment?
