Overview

The Securities Commission (SC) is established on 1 March 1993 under the Securities Commission Act 1993, it is a self-funding statutory body with investigative and enforcement powers. It reports to the Minister of Finance and its accounts are tabled in Parliament annually.

The SC is looking for the best and brightest young people to pursue their education and commence a rewarding and challenging career with them.

Field of Study

The SC offered scholarships for the following disciplines <ref name = "Securities Commission">[1]</ref>: :

  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • International Business
  • Islamic Finance and Banking
  • Investment Banking
  • Law

The scholarship covers full academic fees, books, subsistence and other miscellaneous allowances.

Pre-University Scholarships

For A-level courses at local recognized institutions. The requirements are:

  • Minimum of 8 1As for SPM 2008
  • Below 19 years of age

Tertiary Scholarships

For first degree courses at top universities locally and overseas (Malaysia, UK, US and Australia). The requirements are as follow :

  • Minimum 4As dan 1B in STPM or
  • 2As dan 1B in A-levels or
  • 3.5 CGPA at Diploma/Matriculation level

Additional Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Active in both co-curricular activities and sports
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Not a scholarship recipient of another organisation

Conditional offers will be provided to successful candidates subject to gaining admission into a top institution/university and serving the SC for a stipulated period upon completion of tertiary education.

Application Process

Applicants will need to submit the scholarship application form alongside with handwritten essays of not more than 1000 words on past achievements and future career aspiration in relation to the application of this scholarship.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will need to undergo four stages of selection process <ref name = "ReCom SC">[2]</ref>:

  • Individual interview
  • Group discussions
  • Online Assessment
  • Q&A session
