cycling in malaysia is so dangerous esp with the 'law-free' motorcyclists and drivers. If government want to promote cycling, they should build paths for cyclists like Canberra do.

Whoa, I think that's too drastic.
I think we should stick with improving public transportation and provide more cycling paths for now. These can also help reduce the number of cars on the road even though the effect can only be seen in long-term.

I think it would be less dangerous if there is less traffic. However, I have another concern. Wouldn't there be a higher risk of being robbed if we cycle?

Hmm... It is possible that cyclers can be robbed more easily. However, it could also be the other way round. Perhaps thieves would not target cyclers because cyclers give the impression of being poor/not so rich. Those drivers of expensive imported cars, however, are depicted as rich and therefore the thieves would prefer to steal from these people, as compared to cyclers.

Also, if thieves steal your bike, it wouldn't be such a great loss. Imagine if thieves break into your car and drive off! The problem would be much worse then. I think cycling is definitely better if what you are afraid of is the thieves. You wouldn't have to worry that much about finding parking space too if you are a cycler!

I would support this effort if it is to be implemented. Maybe one day, it can be 'one of the most bicycle dependent cities on the planet'. Cheap, eco-friendly, fast[compared to trapped in traffic jam]. We can also use bicycle sharing system or rent bicycle system. Something like this

Just a thought, is there a need for cycling law?
