It is sad.

This is the same group of people whom year after year I plead and spend hours calling to stop listing jobs that blatantly discriminates. Call the star classified, yeah they think it is ok to be racist.

Now I urge you guys to pick up the phone and call those numbers and ask why the racist requirement. Tell them to go back to china if you must

But then again, I doubt any of you would call. So f it? I'll keep my special malay rights till kingdom come.

Yet another "controversial" thread by Thirdshifter. Of course everyone in this country is "racist" - the state itself asks us to do so. From the day we are born, we are tagged with our race on the official document.

And of course, "Chinese-Malaysians are racist" itself is a racist statement. I hope you were trying to portray this irony intentionally.

Listing English, BM and Chinese requirement for a job is not racist, if the job requires it. Some of the others sure needs improvement. However, in a business environment you speck what the customer speaks, it is not like a monopoly, like those in government.
Some time ago, I ask a number of Dayak parents why they decided to send their kids to Chinese Schools, they told me by learning Chinese , English and Malay, it is a lot easier for them to find jobs, and later I found out that those kids were hired by Chinese business man over the Chinese kids, because those kids could talk to the Dayak customers easily too. Private business have to do whatever works, they can not count on hand outs.

If you look at everything through racial lenses, everything is racial.

Frank

Doesn't mean it is ok.

The outrageous requirements of "MUST BE CHINESE" is enough justification for a lot of non-chinese-malaysians to be suspicious and form a pre-concieved notion about chinese-malaysians.

It gives me the chill that chinese-malaysians find this practice to be perfectly fine as demonstrated by our dear frankchong.

Of course MARA and UiTM are not just for Malays only, and hence Malay-Malaysians are not racist.

I don't know what you are trying to convey, Third. That the country is at an impasse for mutual racism and protectionism is a well-known fact, and mentioning and amplifying only the bad of the opposite camp does nothing apart from instigating a petty quarrel.

I agree with frankchong's statement and youngyew's.

Racism is defined as a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. By requiring chinese for a job does not portray anything to do with racism...it is merely what the company wants. If this is considered an act of racism, please explain whether MARA scholarships which is applicable only for bumiputras is an act of racism as well.

Thirdshifter,
Please read carefully what I said. Language requirement in English, BM and Chinese does not mean the applicant must be Chinese. The example of a Dayak fitting this description tells you it is the skills.
Yes, there are others that said the application has to be Chinese need improvement and so are a lots of things in Malaysia, including the constitution where people are divided by race.

MARA, Uitm are an act of unacceptable racism. I don't accept it nor do i support it. I think who ever takes a mara grant or go to uitm as a spineless son of a bitch.

To have "Chinese only min SPM Call Liz 019-3197383" is disgusting. If you think its ok, than you too are part of the problem.

The message is clear. Racism works 2 way. Just because the idiotic UMNO lead government had made it ok for 50 years doesn't mean it should be justified.

If you expect malays to abolish the special right, You too should start calling those asshat employer to abolish their discriminotory hiring policies as well.

The solution requires your active participation, so what are you gonna do about it?

Hi Thirdshifter,
If racism is what you are concerned, then we have common ground. However calling Malaysian Chinese racist is not right. The same for me, there are racist policies implemented by the UMNO led BN, but I will not call Malays racist.
There are two fundamentally things wrong in how Malaysian is govern, citizens are divided by race and religion even in the constitution. Eveyone should be equal in front of the law and there should be separation of state and religion. If we have those 2 we can start to work on everything else. Yes, it will take us some time, but we will get there. However, without those 2 we are hijacked by special interest groups, stated with race based and religion based policies propagating to everyone. The government is showing a very bad example.
I have stopped racist remarks in America and in international flights among people of my own race, but with the Malaysian policy as it is, it is making it hard for me to say they are racist even if I hear them. They are just responding to what the government has been doing for the past 50 years.
Can you do the same to advocate equality for all Malaysians ?

Thanks,
Frank

Thirdshifter since this has degenerated into a argument about "Your People" and "My People" here's something to consider before you start pointing fingers. "Your People" support UMNO year after year after year. Thus "Your UMNO" continues to protect "Your Special Rights" thus forcing everyone elses hand in protecting their own communities. If your UMNO decides to treat everyone equally and punish people who continue to protect their communities instead of trying harder to protect "Your Special Rights" we wouldn't be in the shithole we are in today. However Your UMNO doesn't even want to consider that option at all.

Were you surprised that the Cabinet scrapped the proposed Race Relations Act (RRA)? According to Bernama, the minister said the idea was dropped because "we don't have to unite the various races through the enforcement of laws, on the contrary, the community should be educated not only at the adult stage but at a much younger age. This will be more effective".

He further added: "There is no element of force in our efforts to inculcate unity, the spirit of solidarity should be nurtured among the young people. There must be willingness in the feeling of love for others instead of using force." - Above Article.
That minister is an UMNO minister btw.
