Well here is the following questions that i will like to ask:

1.Recently i just got interested in software engineering so i need some
advice on it.I just started to get interested in it like around 5 days ago
so as you can see i'm absolutely have no ideas on how it
works....Therefore is it possible for me to get into this course cuz i think
one of the requirement is suppose to learn computer language...Is it
okay to start from the basic when i study in this course or i need to at
least have some knowledges about it!??

2. If it is still possible then any recommended college/polytechnic for it? My
parents prefer me to go for singapore though...

3.I just passed my SPM so going for diploma/A-level/STPM/foundation
which one will be better for this course?

3.Well of course i do hope that i'll get a job after graduate, so i wonder if
studying in this field will be easy to find a job after graduated? If
possible maybe the salary for a fresh graduate?

4.If there is any other info regarding about software engineering like
background, personal experiences or anything that you will like to share
with me will be much appreciate.

Thank you for any reply(with useful info)~

Hi Straycat,

1. No, you don't need to have any prior knowledge to get into such a course. Having prior background in programming, however, makes you stand out among your classmates.

2. I'm from NUS, so of course, I recommend NUS if you can get in there. NUS courses are more general, so it is called Computer engineering instead of 'software'.

3. I think all have equal chance. However, if you can get to an STPM school which offers Computing, then maybe it will be a better option.

3. Software engineers are everywhere nowadays. Hard to get a job, unless you start a company. It is a popular course. Salary I don't know...

4. What makes you want to study this course? If it is because you like to use the computer, then it is not a good idea. SE can be very frustrating, you can get jammed at a certain code and takes you quite a lot of steps to figure out your problem. You will face computer EVERYDAY for your work. Software engineers are less interactive, they work alone, or in only that small groups, as it is their product that matters. It is the passion that is important: if you think that you can have the love of programming, networking that will sustain you through a long time, then go ahead.
