I'm currently learning Spanish now, merely because i'm interested in it. But, when my relatives or frens know about this, they were like " WHY spanish??" " why not French?" " why not Japanese?" and this really annoyed me.

So, what do u guys think?

Japanese and Chinese are pretty important as well. The Japanese place a great emphasis on their language, and they are proud of it. If you can use their native language with them, it will be easier to deal with them.

As for German, It's one of the most widely spoken language in Europe itself. So you get the idea...

I think Spanish is important. Its widely spoken in emerging economies, ie Latin America. Estrella, how hard is Spanish to learn? It seems to be pretty similar to English.

I'll vote for Japanese just for anime/manga reasons.

North Korea and South Korea both use Korean. They split due to the Korea War.

According to Wikipedia, German is similar to English.
